The most caring, loving, funny and strongest man on Earth, passed away on December 25, 2020. Roy Lee Johnson was born on September 8th in Jasper, Tx to his beautiful mother Josephine James and Amos Johnson.
He had an amazing life growing up in Houston, Tx where he graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School, then on to Texas Southern University. After college he went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of SP4 & receiving commendation for being a Rifle Sharpshooter. He also had the honor of meeting & speaking with then President John F. Kennedy before being shipped off to Cuba.
After service to his country, he became employed with Nabisco, where he petitioned D.C. and caused the company to do away with segregated bathrooms and water fountains. After retiring as a well-respected supervisor, Roy went on to fulfill his dream of being an entrepreneur and successful business owner. Under the tutelage of A.L. Williams he started his own Life Insurance Agency, which started with seven men then blossomed to over 2,000 agents. He received many prestigious awards within the Insurance Industry, including the coveted Executive Club Ring that is given to agents who have achieved 6-figures or more in business production.
His hobbies included cooking, writing, listening to country music and watching The Matrix and Hallmark movies with his wife. After a medical challenge in 2015, Roy and his wife became Vegans, and enjoyed creating delicious and soulful Vegan meals. He loved calling his beautiful daughter Regina, his son Reginald and granddaughter Raveen for hilarious and heartwarming conversations. He enjoyed telling short stories of his life’s adventures to his wife and she loved them so much that each story is documented.
We are all so grateful for every second of his love and presence. He will be greatly missed.
